Could you be on our Board of Trustees?

Become a Trustee at Mediation Plus

Are you passionate about making a real difference in your community? Do you believe in the power of conflict resolution? If so, Mediation Plus would love to hear from you.

We’re a small but impactful charity working across East and West Sussex, supporting individuals, families, neighbours and communities through conflict. Whether it’s a breakdown in communication, a dispute over a specific issue or something more complex, we help people find their own way forward — safely, confidentially, and with compassion.

Why We Need You

We’re currently looking for new Trustees to join our friendly and committed Board of Trustees. As we grow and respond to the needs of our community, we’re especially keen to bring in fresh perspectives, experience and skills in:

· Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

· Housing

· Marketing and Communications

We want our Board to reflect the vibrant and diverse communities we serve across Sussex. So, whether you’re young or retired, experienced or just starting out, we encourage applications from all backgrounds — especially those who are underrepresented in charity leadership, including:

· People from minoritised ethnic communities

· LGBTQIA+ individuals

· Disabled people

· People with lived experience of conflict

· Those from lower socio-economic backgrounds

If you care about creating fairer, more connected communities, you belong here.

What’s Involved?

Being a trustee at Mediation Plus is a rewarding opportunity to shape something meaningful, meet like-minded people, and help build a more peaceful Sussex. You don’t need to have previous trustee experience — we’ll offer guidance and support. What’s important is that you’re:

· A good communicator

· Committed to our vision and mission

· Willing to take on the responsibilities of a charity trustee

· Have the time needed to fulfil the role

Board meetings are held 4–6 times a year, usually on a Wednesday evening, alternating between our offices in Hailsham and St Leonards-on-Sea. There may be occasional extra meetings or support activities too.

This is a voluntary role, but reasonable travel expenses are reimbursed.

Interested?

If this sounds like you — or someone you know — we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch with Becky Sperring at becky@mediation-plus.org.uk for the Trustee Role Description and Application Form.

The closing date for applications is 7th July 2025.
