Mediation Plus expands its operations into Brighton, Hove and Lewes

Mediation Plus has joined forces with the charity formerly known as Brighton and Hove Independent Mediation Service (BHIMS) to create a Sussex-wide mediation and conflict resolution service. We are delighted to welcome the transferring staff and volunteers from BHIMS who will be continuing their work, supporting us to achieve our mission as a charity.

The two charities have worked together for over ten years. We share the same values and already operate several joint contracts across the county helping people resolve conflict, prevent escalation and repair harm. Both charities have developed teams of skilled volunteer mediators, and the combined service has teams based in East Sussex, West Sussex, and Brighton and Hove, working alongside local authorities, housing providers and Sussex Police.

Mergers are becoming more common in the voluntary sector as charities manage growing demand, alongside funding pressures and rising costs. By bringing our two charities together we can create a stronger and more efficient Sussex-wide provider of conflict resolution services, incorporate best practice and maintain local knowledge within our teams.

We will be updating our ‘about us’ page with team details over the coming weeks and are set to accept referrals for neighbourhood mediation, one to one support (conflict coaching), family and workplace mediation across Sussex immediately. You can find details of how to access our service by visiting our project pages.

We can’t wait to develop relationships with statutory and voluntary sector partners in Brighton, Hove and Lewes in the years to come and look forward to providing a sustainable conflict resolution service to everyone living and working in Sussex.
