Time 2 Talk

Time2Talk - Helping young people and their families to help themselves

Our Time2Talk service offers mediation to young people and family members of different generations who are experiencing relationship difficulties. We can help children and young people aged 9 to 19 and their parents, grandparents, carers or any other adult in their lives to:

  • Talk and listen to each other
  • Improve communication
  • Improve understanding
  • Resolve conflicts

The Mediation Process

  • On receiving a referral, our Time2Talk service manager will discuss the issues with all the parties and arrange a visit from two of our trained mediators.
  • The process always starts with individual, confidential meetings with each party so that each person can speak freely about the difficulties and how these are affecting them.
  • Only if and when parties are ready, our mediators can bring family members together to discuss relationships and the changes needed to improve the situation. With our mediators present, this can be a more comfortable way of talking through issues.
  • Mediators will normally visit you at home, or will meet wherever you feel most comfortable.
  • We can arrange daytime or early evening appointments.
  • Mediators can make as many return visits as needed and all information is confidential and will not be passed on without your permission, subject to child safeguarding requirements.
