Mediation Plus Celebrates its Merger
On the afternoon of Friday 6th October 2023, in sunny Bexhill-on-Sea, Mediation Plus bought together staff, volunteers, trustees, partners and funders to celebrate the official merger of Mediation + and Hastings and Rother Mediation Services to form Mediation Plus.
The purpose of the celebration was to:
- Mark the merger.
- Celebrate the incredible work of all our volunteer mediators and staff.
- Thank our funders for their support.
Amongst the invited guests to this inaugural event, Mediation Plus were delighted to welcome His Majesty’s Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex Mr Derek Stevens as our guest speaker. Mr Derek Stevens spoke of the importance of Mediation in the community and how our organisation is helping reduce conflict. He went on to say a huge thank you to staff and volunteers for all of their hard work and dedication in enabling Mediation Plus to support those impacted by conflict.
Alice Matthews, Mediation Plus Chief Executive thanked everyone who supported the merger and reminded the room that whilst we have changed our name there is no change to our service delivery. We are continuing to provide high quality mediation to local families and communities.
The room was ignited with energy, lively discussion, and laughter. It was an excellent opportunity to network and contribute to discussions about local need and the strategic aims of our service.
In summary, Mediation Plus CIO (1202295) officially opened on the 1st July 2023 and has been supported by our partners, volunteers, staff and trustees. The new service continues to provide neighbourhood, intergenerational, family, workplace, and bespoke mediation for the benefit of people within East Sussex. Our core principles of independence, impartiality, voluntary participation, and confidentiality remain at the heart of our work, building on the legacy of the previous charities which date back to 1995.
